College & Humanitarian Scholarships

The Daniel Huffstutler & Dale Herbst scholarship fund was born in 2007 as a way to give back to members of our MAiZE family who are passionate about agriculture, education and/or giving back through humanitarian efforts. Over the years, it's been an honor to support and celebrate the bright futures of our youth through this annual college scholarship. In 2021, the scholarship was expanded to also support humanitarian efforts and provide support to those choosing to give back through service.

Each year, multiple scholarships valued at $3000+ are awarded to MAIZE OWNERS, IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS and EMPLOYEES who've worked for MAiZE farms for 3 or more seasons. Recipients must either be pursuing upper education (college, tech school, etc.) or plan to participate in a humanitarian trip during the 2024-2025 year.

Applications will be live in May and are due June 7. They will then be judged by the advisory board and winners will be announced by July 7 and notified by email.

The Auction

Each year a silent and live auction are held at the Corn Party, allowing members of our MAiZE family to contribute to the scholarship fund through auction donations & purchases.

Original Namesake

Originally the scholarship was named in honor of Daniel Huffstutler, our first MAiZE owner in the state of Alabama. Dan passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 1999 from a brain aneurysm, but left a lasting impression and legacy through his passion for agriculture.

Honoring our Parents

At the 2018 Corn Party, the scholarship name was amended to recognize the impact of all our parents by including Dale Herbst, Brett's father, who passed away in 2017. The official name is now the Daniel Huffstutler & Dale Herbst Scholarship.

Thank You!

A few recipients of the Daniel Huffstutler & Dale Herbst MAiZE scholarship give thanks, representing 115+ who've received scholarships since 2007.
