In honor of Daniel Huffstutler & Dale Herbst. The scholarship fund was conceived in 2007 as a way to give back to members of our MAiZE family who are passionate about agriculture, education and/or giving back through humanitarian efforts. Its original namesake is Daniel Huffstutler, a former college roommate of Brett's who became our first MAiZE owner in the state of Alabama. Dan passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 1999 from a brain aneurysm, but left a lasting impression and legacy through his passion for agriculture. At the 2018 Corn Party, the scholarship name was amended to recognize the impact of all our parents by including Dale Herbst, Brett's father, who passed away in 2017. It's in their honor that we continue to support and celebrate the future of agriculture through this annual scholarship. In 2021, the scholarship was expanded to also support humanitarian efforts as well and provide support to those choosing to give back through service.
